Hopatcong Police Department Internal Affairs Yearly Summary

As per Attorney General guidelines. the following summarizes the internal affairs complaints taken against officers of the Hopatcong Borough Police Department in 2022.

There were nine interal affairs complaints filed during the calendar year.  Of these, eight were initiated by civilians and one was initiated by the agency.  All but one of the investigations has been fully investigated and closed out.  None of the closed cases have a finding of sustained.

 

As per Attorney General guidelines, the following summarizes the internal affairs complaints taken againts officers of the Hopatcong Borough Police Department in 2021.

There were six cases total for the calendar year.  Five of the complaints were initiated by civilians and one was initated by the agency.  All of the 2021 cases are closed with a finding.  Two of these cases had a finding of sustained.  ( See major discipline for detail on agency initiated case) The second case was other rule violation initated by a civilian

Persuant to IAPP Section 9.11.2 of the NJ Attorney General’s Guidelines.  The HBPD reports no major discipline between January 1, 2020 to December 31, 2020  Ptl Nicholas Maresca was suspended 10 days due to Insubordination toward a supervisor on 12/09/2021

There was one case for the calendar year.  It was initiated by a civilian and closed with a finding of officer exonerated.
